  • Description

Origin: Vazisubani Estate dates back to the 19th century, tracing its roots to one of Georgia's most storied family lines — the Chavchavadzes. Meticulously restored over the last decade, the estate sits at 500 metres elevation on the right bank of the Alazani River in the Kakheti region. The sandy clay and bedrock terroir and the favourable climate of the Alazani Valley are ideal for Georgia's indigenous red varieties, and all grapes are hand-picked and farmed using organic practices.

Grape Variety: 100% Saperavi — Georgia's most celebrated red grape and one of the world's rare teinturier varieties, with both red flesh and red skin, yielding wines of exceptional depth of colour and structure. Its name means "place of colour" — a fitting tribute to the inky intensity it brings to every glass.

Taste Profile: Dark red and intensive, this wine exhibits aromas of cherry, mulberry, and blackberry. The rich tannic structure is well balanced, and the palate is long and memorable. Tobacco leaf and dark purple berries with a hint of dark chocolate show on the nose, with a soft, velvety attack that reveals both fruit and savory notes.

Craftsmanship: Grapes are hand-harvested in small batches in the early morning, partially destemmed, and placed in Qvevri — subterranean clay vessels — on skins for 40 days, then aged in Qvevri followed by stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 8 to 14 months until bottled. Unfiltered and made with no additives, using spontaneous natural wild yeast fermentation — a wine of genuine authenticity and terroir.

Serving Suggestions: Excellent with rich meals and cheeses. Also a natural pairing for grilled meats, lamb, game, and hearty Georgian dishes such as Mtsvadi or Kharcho. Serve at 16–18°C; a short decant will help open its aromatic complexity.
