  • Description

Origin: Vazisubani Estate dates back to the 19th century, tracing its roots to one of Georgia's most storied family lines — the Chavchavadzes. Meticulously restored over the last decade, the estate sits at 500 metres elevation on the right bank of the Alazani River in the Kakheti region. The Mukuzani PDO is one of Georgia's most prestigious red wine appellations, occupying a privileged stretch of the Alazani Valley where Saperavi reaches its most structured and age-worthy expression.

Grape Variety: 100% Saperavi — Georgia's greatest red grape and one of the world's rare teinturier varieties, with both red flesh and red skin. The grapes are sourced from Vazisubani Estate vineyards uniquely situated at the intersection of the Vazisubani and Mukuzani PDOs, on the right bank of the Alazani River.

Taste Profile: An intensely pigmented wine, bold and mature, with a dark ruby colour. The palate is intense with blackberry and cherry flavours, spicy oak and coffee overtones, and velvety tannins. A wine of real depth and elegance, built to age gracefully.

Craftsmanship: Grapes are harvested by hand, partially destemmed, and loaded into stainless steel tanks for fermentation, leaving on skins for 20 days. The wine is then aged in oak for 8 months. The vineyards are farmed using organic practices and lutte raisonnée, with all grapes hand-picked. Winemaker Lado Uzunashvili, an 11th-generation winemaker, oversees every stage of production.

Serving Suggestions: A natural match for grilled and roasted red meats, game, lamb, and hearty Georgian dishes such as Chakapuli or Ostri. Also excellent alongside aged hard cheeses and rich stews. Serve at 16–18°C; decanting for 30 minutes will open up its full aromatic potential.
