  • Description

Origin: Produced in the Khvanchkara micro-zone of the Racha region in western Georgia, Khvanchkara is one of the most celebrated and historic wines in the country. Vineyards are situated at elevations between 450 and 750 metres above sea level, in mineral-rich humus-carbonate and alluvial soils.

Grape Variety: A classic blend of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli, two endemic varieties of the Racha region that have been crafted together since the 19th century.

Taste Profile: The wine offers a rich bouquet of red fruit aromas including ripe cherries, raspberries, and strawberries, complemented by subtle notes of pomegranate and blackberries, with a hint of freshly crushed black pepper. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity, with velvety tannins and a smooth, lingering finish.

Craftsmanship: Khvanchkara's semi-sweet character is achieved naturally — the sweetness comes exclusively from residual grape sugar rather than any additions, making it a naturally semi-sweet wine. This wine shimmers with an intense ruby colour with purple hues, and its taste is velvety and deep, with distinct berry notes and a pleasant, unobtrusive sweetness.

Serving Suggestions: Pairs beautifully with aged cheeses, dark chocolate, lamb dishes, and spicy foods. Best served slightly chilled at 12–14°C to let its berry aromas and natural sweetness shine.
