  • Description

Origin: Gio's Marani is a boutique family winery rooted in the heart of Kakheti — Georgia's premier wine-producing region, celebrated for centuries as the spiritual home of the country's finest reds. The name "Marani" itself is the Georgian word for a traditional wine cellar, reflecting the deeply personal and artisanal nature of this producer.

Grape Variety: 100% Saperavi — Georgia's great indigenous red grape and one of the world's rare teinturier varieties, with deeply pigmented skin and flesh. Its name means "place of colour" in Georgian, a testament to the inky, vivid depth it brings to every glass. Saperavi is prized for its bold fruit character, naturally high acidity, and remarkable capacity for aging.

Taste Profile: Deep, inky purple with rich garnet hues. The nose opens with aromas of blackberries, black cherries, and dark plum, interwoven with earthy undertones of leather and tobacco, and a whisper of vanilla from oak aging. On the palate — full-bodied, confident, and structured, with polished tannins and a long, satisfying finish.

Craftsmanship: Aged in oak barrels to enhance complexity and roundness. The careful aging process allows Saperavi's natural boldness to soften and integrate, resulting in a wine of refined elegance and depth. Meticulous attention at every stage — from hand-harvested fruit to careful barrel selection — defines the Gio's Marani approach.

Serving Suggestions: Serve at 16–18°C. Pairs beautifully with grilled and roasted red meats, lamb, veal, game, hearty stews, mushroom dishes, and mature hard cheeses. Decanting for 20–30 minutes is recommended to fully open its aromatic complexity.
